Who Am I?

I am Dan Murn, kayak and surf ski racer, coach, trainer.  For 31 years I have been teaching and coaching individuals to help them achieve their goals.  I have worked with public school and high school athletes, handicapped students, and elite athletes.  I am also an elite athlete, having competed and won in many sports.

My variety of teaching experiences means that I can adapt my training style to your learning style, as well as to your goals and your current abilities and strengths.

What Have I Done?

In the Testimonials page you can read testimonials from people I've helped, from a recreational paddler just getting started in citizen racing who was helped with technique, training, and even diet all the way up to nationally recognized elite racers wanting small improvements with technique.  In the Training Clinic page you can read the outline of a typical training clinic.

As well as coaching individuals and small groups, I have been coaching the Bay Creek Paddling Center's racing team, and I am Race Director for the Rochester Open Water Challenge.  The Bay Creek racing team has had some incredible results, especially at the Long Lake Long Boat Regatta.  In 2008, we took 2nd, 3rd and 4th in Unlimited Kayak, 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th in Touring Kayak, and 1st through 4th in Novice Kayak.

What Can I Do For You?

In the Coaching page, you can read about how I can customize a program for you, your goals, and your strengths and abilities.  Whether you want an individual private lesson, a group training clinic, or a year long training program, I can set it up a high quality program that you will find well worth the cost.  See the Contact Me page for information on how to contact me.

Why Am I Unique?

There are other professional coaches out there.  There are other kayak racers out there.  What makes me unique is that I am both - I can look at the problems of technique and conditioning from the viewpoint of a coach and from the viewport of a racer.
